2014 Schedule of Events

JANUARY

25th: Art Walk, 10 AM – 5 PM

                        fill your day with fine arts and exhibits along the Avenue

        25th: Wine Walk, 1 PM – 7 PM

Stroll Flagler Avenue and explore over 100 interesting wines inside local pubs, galleries and restaurants during this monthly progressive wine tasting event. $25 Tasting Passports on sale day of the event at 3 locations along the Avenue.

        26th: NSB Chowder Festival, Noon – 5 PM

Featuring more than 25 chowders, the progressive chowder cook-off will take place inside sponsor locations along Flagler Avenue. The event is co-sponsored by the New Smyrna Beach Moose Lodge and the $10 passport benefits the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Camp in Barberville.

 

                       

FEBRUARY

        22nd: Art Walk, 10 AM – 5 PM

27th: Mardi Gras Ball, 7 PM - Midnight

The perfect event to kick off the famous Mardi Gras parade on Flagler Avenue, the Black Tie Masked Gala will be hosting the 2013 Blues Music Award's Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year, Victor Wainwright and his band on the main stage playing New Orleans style music, while tasting authentic Cajun food and drinks.  You’ll even be able to stroll down our very own Bourbon Street outside under the bridge with the chance to win a trip to the Big Easy! MARCH

       4th: Mardi Gras Parade, 7 PM until you can’t party any longer

Celebrate Fat Tuesday with the famous Flagler Avenue Mardi Gras Parade, Traditional Nawlins'-themed music and food specials AND BEADS, BEADS, BEADS at 12 venues along the Avenue.

15th: Spring Sidewalk Sale, 9 AM – 5 PM

            spring up and roll down Flagler as you treat yourself to pre-St. Patrick’s Day Sales

        17th: Sham Rock ‘n Roll, 2 PM until you call it a night

Shamrock and Roll activities begin at noon with full Irish menus, bagpipes, and Irish-themed entertainment. The $500 Pot O’ Gold Treasure Hunt runs from 2pm to 8pm. Great fun for the Irish and Irish at heart!

        17th: NSB Food Festival, 5 PM – 9 PM

The NSB Food Festival showcases scores of local restaurants selling tastes of their best dishes at “sample-size prices” from $3 to $5. The Festival is designed to allow guests to stroll the avenue and enjoy tastes of sumptuous food from multiple restaurants who will be competing for “Best on the Beach” awards.

MAY

        5th Cinco de Mayo Celebration & Tequila Festival, 2 PM until you can’t dance any longer

The celebration of Mexican heritage and pride will include food, live entertainment and dancing beginning at 2pm. Join in the fun and education about one of the fastest growing spirit categories in the United States today…TEQUILA!  Flagler Avenue’s Progressive Tequila Tasting will take place from 4 to 8pm inside sponsor locations. Passports will be available for sale on-site the day of the event.

8th-11th: Blues Festival, all weekend long

A 3-day, music-filled journey into one of America’s most celebrated and popular music genres, "The Blues"; featuring scores of bands playing at multiple locations along Flagler Avenue!

       17th & 18th: Cook and Book, _____ PM - _____ PM (at the Coronado Civic Center off of Flagler)

                        Watch 20+ book authors perform demonstrations, dine-outs, and cook book signings.

       24th: Art Walk, 10 AM – 5 PM

                        fill your day with fine arts and exhibits along the Avenue

24th: Wine Walk, 1 PM – 7 PM

Stroll Flagler Avenue and explore over 100 interesting wines inside local pubs, galleries and restaurants during this monthly progressive wine tasting event. $25 Tasting Passports on sale day of the event at 3 locations along the Avenue.

            31st: Sea Turtle Odyssey, Noon – 11 PM (The Shoppes at Seaside Station)

A family friendly educational event where members from the Canaveral National Seashore, Marine Discovery Center, Marine Science Center, and NSB Turtle Trackers all come together to educate the public on one of the Earth’s most ancient creatures and some of its neighbors under the sea. Featuring a sea-related outdoor movie and refreshments.

 

 

JUNE

            7th & 8th: Kite Festival, 11 AM- 4 PM

                        enjoy a high-flying weekend of colorful fun along our sandy beaches

            14th: Sand Art Festival, 8 AM – 3 PM

            come down and enjoy watching how creative amateur sand artists can be

            19th: Seaside Fiesta Block Party, 5 PM – 9 PM

celebrate our town with an annual festival including drink specials, food, entertainment, and dancing

            20th – 22nd: Reggae & Island Music Festival, all weekend long

                        enjoy reggae and island sounds at the host locations along the Avenue

21st: Surfari Club Surf & SUP Contest, 8 AM – 5 PM

        30th: Firefighters Hook & Ladder Night (Charity Event), 6 PM - 10 PM (**DATE MAY CHANGE)

Join the New Smyrna Beach Professional Firefighters Association, Local 2271 on Flagler Avenue to raise money for the Fallen Firefighters Memorial Scholarship Fund

 

 

AUGUST

         21st: NSB Seafood Festival, 5 PM – 9 PM

Volusia County's best restaurants will be serving up sample sized portions of their award winning seafood dishes all priced between $3 and $5 plus local artists, musicians and other “Seafood” related activities.  Restaurants will be competing for the coveted “BEST ON THE BEACH” awards.

                        enjoy your weekend with all things Jazz from the sounds to parties and art

 

 

OCTOBER

10th – 12th: NSB Country & Bluegrass Music Festival, all weekend long

A 3-day, music-filled journey into one of America’s most celebrated and popular music genres – country and of course bluegrass, featuring scores of bands playing at multiple locations along Flagler Avenue.

17th – 19th: Project Pink

        17th: 50/50 Poker Walk, 5 PM – 9 PM

join in on our Breast Cancer 50/50 Poker Walk with drink and food specials at the host locations on the Avenue

       18th: Chili & Craft Beer Festival, 12 PM – 5 PM

Taste over 20 homemade chili’s from NSB’s local restaurants. Vote for your favorite in our “Best on the Beach” awards and raise money for The Susan G Komen for the Cure and Save the TaTas Foundations.  Or join in the fun at our Craft Beer Walk with over 100 great craft beers to choose from inside sponsor locations.                       

                        18th: Bras for Ta-Tas Contest, 12 PM – 5 PM

View the 75+ bras decorated by local residents and merchants for auction. Your $1 donation to the American Cancer Society casts your vote for your favorite bra!

19th: Awards Ceremony, 2 PM – 4 PM

                        see if your favorite contests took home the gold in the weekend’s contests

25th: Art Walk, 10 AM – 5 PM

            25th: Under the Sea Mermaid Costume Contest, 4 PM – 6 PM (The Shoppes at Seaside Station)

A contest of fun and imagination! The mermaid costume contest will be open to all ages with several categories: Best Youth Costume, Best Individual Costume, Best Homemade Costume, and Best Mermaid Tail! Judging starts at 4:30 PM.

25th: NSB Sand Art Festival, 8 AM – 3 PM

            come down and enjoy watching how creative amateur sand artists can be

31st: New Smyrna-ween Creepy Crawl, 8 PM -1AM

Flagler Avenue is the place to be on Halloween night with 6 great parties in one, including over $10,000 in cash and prizes and over 10 individual costume contests throughout the night inside sponsor locations   

 

 

 

NOVEMBER

            1st: NSB Zombie 5K Beach Run/Walk, 9 AM – 11 AM

                        make your way to the finish line while battling off zombies that are headed your way

            1st: Beach Boot Camp Obstacle Course, 10 AM – 2 PM

                        challenge yourself to a Beach Boot Camp the way our nation’s finest do

            8th & 9th: Flamingo Follies, all weekend long 9 AM – 5 PM

                        fill your weekend with music and holiday art shopping along the Avenue

            14th – 16th: NSB Rock & Roll Music Festival, all weekend long

we will rock you around the clock with a festival for all ages with Rock & Roll music from the 50’s through today

            21st & 22nd: NSB Beach Film Festival, all weekend long, 5:30 PM nightly

                        watch a movie like never before…on the beach as the night falls

27th: Turkey Day 5K Beach Run/Walk, 8 AM – 10 AM

there is no better way to make room for Thanksgiving dinner than by starting your day with a 5K

            29th: Wine Walk, 1 PM – 7 PM
